I load my backings the same way! however,,,,, the belly bar on my machine is the one that is supposed to roll the backing. magnets occasionally fall off,,,, on my foot at times. yikes! I've tried to roll the backing on the lower bar that is intended is to hold the top but the "brake" or "ratchet" seems to not lock in both directions. (hope that make sense). If I turn the leader and roll backing up like yours the backing tends to loosen up on me. any suggestions? Not mechanically inclined so I'm afraid to mess with the ratchets on that bar. ? maybe stronger magnets if I can find some?

Every brand is a little different…also every magnet, it seems like😉 I’m not quite sure what you mean by “turn the leader”. The direction it rolls in? In my machine, I was able to simply load my backing on the rail intended for the top.

Hi Susan, I have q24. I've had problem with bobbin thread breakage. I see bobbin thread caught on the spring when it breaks. It occurs mostly when I change the full bobbin and up to 5 times at most.. it is really frustrating. don't know why it happens. I googled a lot but it looks like it happens just to me. Maybe the defective spring issue..? Do you have any clue? Thanks in advance!

    • @StitchedBySusan

I suspect your bobbing is loading too full. You can adjust that with the screw right beside the bobbin winder. Righty tighty to make the release button more sensitive and it’ll stop sooner.

Hi Susan, I've watched your loading process over and over on various videos you have, and it always makes so much sense. I recently purchased the red snappers, and have trouble snapping the snappers onto the backing edges straight. I know you use the clamps at the ends of the leaders to keep them from moving while you line up the backing edges on your rails, but what do you use as a guide to line up the backing ? You make it look so easy. Am I making sense--even though I am using the selvedge edge and know it is straight, there is no way for me to know I am securing the snappers on straight.

    • @StitchedBySusan

Starting is not a problem, but when I stop on my little Moxie, it's very difficult to pull the thread away to get the end tail, to pull up the bobbin thread again. Any idea why that would be? Learning so much from you, thank you for sharing your knowledge.
